Abergavenny Mini and Junior Rugby Festival 2023
Tournament rules – Juniors – Saturday 29th April 2023
- All games will be 15 a-side comprising of 8 forwards and 7 backs (squad size 25)
- Duration of games will be 7 minutes each way with one minute for half time
- Rules are as WRU pathways rules except;
- Line-out will be a free pass 1m in from touch line
- There will be no conversions
- Kicking out of hand is allowed
- There will be no cavalry charge allowed
- Points will be accumulated in a league table format with 3 points for a win 2 for a draw and 1 for a loss
- Try count, for and against, will be recorded and in the event of a tie
– most tries scored
– least tries conceded
– if it is still a draw the toss of a coin will decide the winner
- There will be awards for the winners and runners up for each age group
- Player of the tournament will also be awarded
PLEASE NOTE
- ONLY PLAYERS AND COACHES ARE ALLOWED INSIDE THE ROPED OFF AREAS
- AFTER EACH GAME THE SCORE CARD MUST BE AGREED WITH THE REFEREE AND THE TWO TEAM COACHES BEFORE BEING SUBMITTED TO THE SCOREBOARD AREA
- ARBITRATION FIRSTLY WITH MATCH REFEREE, FESTIVAL ADJUDICATOR SHALL HAVE FINAL SAY
- ANY COMPLAINTS OR ISSUES MUST BE REPORTED TO THE ADJUDICATOR AT THE SCOREBOARD AREA BY THE TEAM COACH ONLY
- FESTIVAL ADJUDICATOR WILL BE SITUATED AT THE SCOREBOARD AREA
- IF A PLAYER IS SENT OFF THE PITCH WITH A RED CARD THEY WILL NO TAKE NO FURTHER PART IN THE FESTIVAL
- THE REFEREE IS ALWAYS RIGHT AND THERE WILL BE A ZERO TOLERANCE APPROACH TO ANY ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR
- ANY ACCIDENTS OR INCIDENTS MUST BE REPORTED TO THE FESTIVAL ADJUDICATOR IMMEDIATELY

All games will be as follows:
- Under 7’s – 5 a-side
- Under 8’s – 7 a-side
- Under 9’s – 10 a-side – (5 forward and 5 backs)
- Under 10’s – 10 a-side – (5 forward and 5 backs)
- Under 11’s – 12 a-side – (5 forward and 7 backs)
- Under 12’s – 15 a-side – (8 forward and 7 backs)
- Duration of games will be as per the team playing sheet for that pitch
- Rules are as pathways rules except;
- Line-out will be a free pass 1m in from touch line
- There will be no conversions
- Kicking is allowed (as pathway – applicable to that age group)
- There will be no cavalry charge allowed
- All mini age groups – U7 – U11 will be a festival with no scores collated and no overall winners, medals will be given to all players. U12’s will be as Saturdays junior rules.
